Having a mailing list is really great for making more money from your blog – from promotiong your own digital products to making affiliate sales. Did you know that you can also monetise your regular newsletters? If you have gone to the effort of learning GDPR for bloggers then you might as well make money from your regular newsletters! Here are some ideas for you to monetise them, no matter how often you send out newsletters.
Sending regular newsletters
Sending out a regular newsletter to your subscribers helps you out in so many ways.
Remember that someone has given you their email address, so they want to hear from you!
You get to remind them of who you are and provide them with exclusive content they won't find on your blog – whether it is a behind the scenes or a special offer just for them.
It also means that when you do want to sell something (whether it is your own product or an affiliate link) your audience will already be use to hearing from you.
Plus, by following the tips in this blog post, you can also monetise your regular newsletters!
Affiliate links
One of the best ways to monetise your regular newsletters is to put affiliate links into them.
You can either place the links into the body of your newsletter or you can create a segment at the bottom of your newsletter – you can see my example of this below.
I find that dedicated emails about a specific affiliate, whether it be a promotion or introducing it to my readers, is much more effective for affiliate sales.
Send traffic to your blog
Another great way to monetise your regular newsletter is to send traffic to your blog posts.
If you have adverts on your blog then that's great – you could make extra money from extra page views.
However this also has a long term impact – if you are getting more page views then you can increase your sponsorship rate!
Sell a segment mention
If you have created segments in your newsletter template then you can also offer these as sponsorship opportunities to potential sponsors.
This gives them a cheaper sponsorship than say, a dedicated newsletter, whilst helping you to increase your income.
My newsletter
On my main blog, EmmaDrew.Info, I send out a newsletter every week to my subscribers, on a Tuesday.
If my newsletter is purely a newsletter, not sponsored or anything, then I will pop segments into the bottom of my newsletter with affiliate links
Here you can see this segment, as well as my link clicks.
This is at the bottom of my newsletter, made into the template, so I can change the links out regularly.
